Pat Hughes Trophy

Congratulations to Helen Skidmore on winning the Pat Hughes Trophy last night with Hollie Pearce the runner up.  The Trophies were presented by Ann, Pat Hughes' daughter.  The league's thanks go to Stafford Bowling Club for hosting, the people who measured for the evening and every one who came to watch on a lovely sunny evening.

Best wishes to all for the winter and we will see you all at the AGM planned for Friday 7th February.

Pat Hughes Finals - Stafford Bowling Club - Monday 16th September - 6.30 start

Hi all, thanks to everyone who came last night to play, measure and watch.  Thanks to Stafford Bowling Club for hosting.  We are due to play the semi-finals and finals on Monday 16th September at Stafford Bowling Club - 6.30 Start.  Please come along to watch and support. Details of the results to date are under the competitions heading.

Joan Ralph Trophy

Well done to Hollie Pearce and Chris Andrea on winning the Joan Ralph Trophy today. A fantastic final against Jan Ivens and Cat Talbot.  Thanks go to everyone who stayed to watch, the guys who did the measuring and Maggie, Mary and Anne and Burton Manor Club for hosting and keeping us supplied with teas and coffee.

Don't forget the Singles competition starting at Stafford BC tomorrow Monday 9th Sept scratch time of 6pm.

Competitions

We finish the season with two more competitions, although we have asked you to put your names forward that was just to give an idea of numbers.  You can enter on the day just turn up and register before the scratch time.

Joan Ralph Trophy Sunday 8th September at Rowley Park, kindly hosted by Burton Manor, scratch time is 10am.  If you don't have a partner but would like to enter just turn up on the day and hopefully we will find you a partner.  Please bring lunch as this may go into the afternoon.

Pat Hughes Trophy Monday 9th September with the finals on Monday 16th September, kindly hosted by Stafford BC, scratch time is 6pm.

Joan Ralph and Pat Hughes Competitions

Joan Ralph Doubles Competition to be held at Burton Manor BC on Sunday 8th September start time tbc, this is a change from the original date on the website.

Pat Hughes Singles Competition to be held on Mondays 9th and 16th September at Stafford BC.

For both of these competitions you can enter on the day by turning up prior to the scratch time however if you know that you are going to attend then can you let your captain know so that she can pass this on to Helen Sammons so that we can have an idea of how many are entering.

If you would like to enter the doubles competition and don't have a partner then please again let you captain know to pass this on and we will hopefully put you in touch with someone else who wants to play.

As with all competitions if you don't want to play please come along to watch these are all usually good sessions.

Iris Walker Competition

Congratulations to Helen Punchard and Ben Handley on winning the Iris Walker Mixed Doubles competition at Fieldhouse BC today, and also to the runners up Chris Andrea and Craig Guildford. 

Thanks to Fieldhouse BC and everyone who stayed to watch and help with the competition.

Congratuations to Stafford Bowling Club Trio, Wendy, Vilma and Lynn on winning the Triples comp at the Amasal, well done to the Amasal Trio, Hollie, Chris and Jo for making the final. Many thanks to the Amasal for hosting and organising this competition, your support is appreciated and I am sure the bowlers who bowled had a good day.  The full results will be on the website in.a few days.

Iris Walker Competition - Sunday 4th August - Fieldhouse BC (formally known as Alstom)

The details of the pre-lim round of the above competition are now on the website under the Competition Results Tab.

Arrival times for players and their partners are below:

10am - Chris Andrea, Jenny Bloor, Sue Marsden, Theresa Talbot, Ann Griffiths, Jo Jenks, Val Newman, Cat Talbot, Peggy Haidarovic, Di Lester

11am - Jill Nall, Annis Moore, Jan Ivens, Helen Punchard, Vilma Allman, Helen Skidmore, Tricia Murray, Mary Logan

As usual tea and coffee will be provided, we will do a football card to cover the cost of this and a donation to the club for the use of the green.

Entry fee for the competition is £2 per player.

Just a reminder as this comes up most years, at some point, there is nothing in the rules as to which of the pair sends the jack, some people are under the impression it has to be the woman but this is not the case, it can as always be either player.

Take care if parking on the estate, there has been some trouble so please make sure you don't block pavements or driveways.

Hatherton Winter League 2024/25

See message below regarding this league.  Looks like they are hoping to have a second day and go back to playing both Tuesdays and Thursdays so room for some more teams.

Cannock Hatherton run winter bowling on the Astro turf pitch. We would like to encourage more teams to come and join us. Could you please put a note on your news page regarding this. Full details are available on “Cannock Hatherton Winter” website under Staffs/Derby within the bowlsresults website which we all use.

Rita Knight Drawn Doubles Competition

Congratulations to the winners of the Rita Knight Drawn Doubles competition Helen Thompson and Anne Willatt.  Commiserations to the runners up Lynne Outhwaite and Theresa Talbot.  The full results are on the website.

Rita Knight Drawn Doubles - Finals will be held on Monday 24th June at Stafford Bowling Club - 6pm start

Thank you to Burton Manor and Silkmore for hosting the rounds of this competition, last night.  The results are on the website.  The pairs going through to the semi finals are Lynne Outhwaite & Theresa Talbot, Helen Williams & Ann Jones, Trish Murray & Pauline Dunn, Helen Thompson & Ann Willat.

Hopefully you will be able to come along to watch the finals.

INVITES MIXED PAIRS TO COMPETE IN A MIXED PAIRS OPEN COMPETITION AT THE RAG AT RAWNSLEY BOWLING CLUB FOR £1,000-00 IN PRIZE MONEY (minimum entry 32pairs-maximum entry 64pairs)

ENTRY FEE £10-00 per Mixed Pair.(No Home Bowlers)

QUALIFYING ROUNDS DEPENDING ON ENTRIES TO START ON SATURDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER 2024 AND SATURDAY 21ST SEPTEMBER 2024 WITH A FINALS DAY ON SATURDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER 2024.

AGM - Change of date

Happy New Year to all.

Please be advised that the AGM date has changed from the one that was printed on the card.

The date is now Friday 23rd February.

Full information will be sent out around the end of January.

Any questions/issues to be raised at the AGM should be put through your team captain or league representative within the next couple of weeks.
