Sun 22nd SepWell folks what a week I've had at The Hart Redditch this week as my role as Heart of England Merit Secretary. A very very long week that has mainly run smoothly with a couple of bumps in the road ( beyond my control ) but before I say a few thank you's I will bring you the scores on the doors from tonight's finals evening.
The green has been in excellent condition all week for this time of year so thank you to The Hart for cutting the green and getting it ready for this week 👏👏👏 here we go.

Congratulations to Nathan Caines on becoming the 2024 Heart of England Friendly Bowling League Singles Merit winner, the second time he's won the competition and taking over from his brother Matt who won it last year. JB also played superbly well throughout qualifying and again tonight and I hope his good run continues in comps over the next 2 weeks or so.
Next to ALL the players that have entered this year I can only thank you for supporting the competition and myself as the organiser. Bowls is my life, I love it and I have met some friends for life as a result and I wouldn't change that for the world. It was nice to see some new players try their luck in the competition as well as those that enter it each year, thank you for your continued support.
I'd like to thank the members of The Hart BC who have looked after myself as organiser so so well this week and also the players with endless cups of tea, coffee and biscuits as its been bloody cold 🥶 this week and also to Muriel and Kirk who have been amazing. Last night Thursday wasn't the best of nights for more reasons than one but despite that the food supplied by Muriel this evening was amazing and wasn't necessary as she's had enough on her plate today. I've bought her some flowers 💐 out of my own money as well as some chocolates to Kirk as my personal thank you for looking after me so amazingly well this week.
The highest break prize for the competition which I myself managed to win with a run of 16 shots on Tuesday Evening I've also left with The Hart as a donation for their club 👍👍
All the spectators that have braved the elements and helped marked cards and helped me measure as well as those from The Hart, I can only try my best but without the help of others on the different qualifying nights this competition wouldn't be able to go ahead. Thank you to sponsorship money from Jamie Carter and Peter Mole who continue to help me financially and to attract 59 bowlers this season has been a real great turnout.
Hopefully you'll see me run the Heart of England Singles Merit Competition again in 2025, may have a think of a few minor tweaks but let's see what happens in the future.
A very very tired and weiry Junior but I've really enjoyed it. Cheers and see you soon 😊
Thursday League Cup Final at Wythall
BEWARE ROAD WORKS
Just to let you know that there are currently gas works taking place in Silver Street (Where Wythall Bowling Club is located).
Access from Alcester Road into Silver street is blocked off at the moment (opposite the White Swan), but you can get to the Club via Middle Lane / Silver Street or from Alcester Road via Brick Kiln Lane and Wilmore Lane.
Both of these two routes do have signs saying that the road ahead is closed, but you can still get past these to access the club and the green (using Middle Lane and Brick Kiln Lane).
Tue 10th SepGood morning,

Sun 1st SepThursday League Cup Finals
Good Evening Everyone
The date has changed to the 19th for the Cup match or a date close to that due to unforseen delays
I am still trying to get a venue for the Thursday Night League Final and am hoping Wythall will help us out. There has been a change of date due to the problems of venues, bad weather causing a lot of rearranged league matches now happening on the 5th and they have priority over the cup match. We also had a late semi-final.
The 19th ties in with the Over 60's finals as well.
Kindest regards
Louise
PLEASE NOTE
Can Captains please check the eligibility of their players for the remaining 4 fixtures. Also all matches start at 6.30pm on a Thursday.
Thank you
Louise
RULE 23 A
Singles Merit Competition
Message from John Griffin
Mon 5th Aug
Dear All
Please can i draw to your attention a couple of rules that will need to be adhered to in the last remaining games of the season and for the Cup /Consolation Cup
To play in the Semi Final or Final of Cup Matches, players must have played in a previous round. (Competition Rule 6a)
And
To play in the last four scheduled league fixtures, players must have played in a previous league fixture, unless agreed with the Match Secretary. Players may only play for the team they have played the majority of games for. Players may however be promoted but not relegated. (Rule 23a)
Regards
Louise
