Dear Bowls Friends,
Unfortunately myself, (Lynda) and Allan, will NOT be running the Deeside Long Mat Bowls League this year, as this became too much last season, resulting in health issues. I would be happy, therefore, for someone else to take it over from us.
I have contacted Tara Mapp-Jones, Aura Deeside and have an email and contact number for her which can be forwarded on to whoever wishes to take over from me.
She has informed me that they will be increasing the price to £354.00 which approximately equates to an increase to £6 per person, provided that 64 people attend each week. Whoever takes over, will need to contact her directly, no later than the end of next week (Friday 13 September 2024) as she will be away on annual leave for two weeks after that.
We will email Captains and anyone interested in taking over regarding equipment etc
We hope it still runs, if it does not, then Aura will not keep it running the year after
Good luck in your endeavours
Lynda and Allan

LOST GENTS RING
Approximately a month ago, one of our members has lost a sentimental ring.
It is a gold ring, with square stones of black and white, each engraved with a face of a soldier
If anyone has seen it or knows anything about it, please can you contact either Lynda (Treasurer), Allan (Chairman) or Phil (League Secretary) so that we can pass on any relevant information to the the gentleman who has lost it.
He is prepared to pay a reward if the ring is found.
Deeside Leisure Centre have also been approached to see if it has been handed in, however, they were not able to help in this case, having checked all the relevant lost property items.
Thank you all very much.

STATEMENT
Following on from an official complaint, presented 11 December 2023, from a League member, we would like to propose a resolution to the problem raised.
We would like to suggest the following:
Each Team should be able to organise players so that each player is able to play 2 games. If, due to a shortage of players, there is a necessity for a player to play a third time, the choice of who that player will be to play, is made by the Captain of the Opposing Team, who will draw out a number from a bag. That number chosen corresponds to a list of numbers representing the players from the Team who are short.
Whoever player's name is allocated to that number, is the player who has been chosen by the Opposition Captain to play for the third time. This choice is final and cannot be changed.
Therefore, irrespective of whether this player is the strongest player in the team or the weakest, they have been chosen by the Opposition Captain to play.
Tue 21st Nov
ALL RULES HAVE NOW BEEN AMENDED AND APPROVED BY THE LEAGUE SECRETARY AND CHAIRMAN
THESE HAVE NOT BEEN CHANGED BUT AMENDED FOR CLARIFICATION AND EACH TEAM WILL BE ISSUED WITH AN UPDATED PAGE FOR THEIR TEAM RECORDS

Sat 18th NovLADIES JACKET FOUND
A maroon coloured ladies fleece jacket was accidentally left behind last Monday at the Deeside Long Mat Bowls. It was passed to me, Lynda, by another member, whose own coat had been picked up mistakenly. I have the ladies jacket and will be bringing it to the Leisure Centre this Monday. If this is your coat and you have picked up the other inadvertently, please could you contact me on my landline and bring with you on Monday, the other coat.
Many thanks
