RULES of the ASSOCIATION

1   The Association shall be known as 'Burton and District Ladies’ Bowls Association', and the object being to stimulate interest in the game of Crown Green Bowling, promote competitions, and, above all, to encourage a healthy and friendly rivalry between the membership clubs of the Association.

2   Officers of the Association shall consist of a Chairwoman, Vice Chairwoman, Secretary, Treasurer, Fixtures & Result Secretary.

3   Business of the Association shall be conducted by Officers and Management Committee who shall meet as per the dates given at the AGM and printed in the Fixture book A quorum shall be formed when twelve or more representatives from different clubs are present.

4   The Management Committee shall consist of the Secretary or a representative from each club in the Association.

5   The Annual General Meeting shall be held on the last Monday in January for election of Officers, consideration of rules and transaction of business for the ensuing season. Any numbers of members from a club are welcome, but only one is eligible to vote.

6   The financial year will be from 1st January to 31st December inclusive with an Auditor being appointed annually to check the books and records of the Association.

7   The business of the Annual General Meeting shall be the adoption or otherwise of the Annual Report and Balance Sheet, a copy of the minutes of the Annual General Meeting, will be sent out by the Secretary to each Club no later than the end of December. A copy of the balance sheet will be presented at the meeting.

8a  Notice of nominations for Officers, any proposals or amendments or alteration in the rules of the association, together with the name of the proposer shall be given in writing to the Secretary not later than 30th November and notice thereof shall be sent by the Secretary to the Clubs in membership at least 14 days prior to the date of such Annual General Meeting.

8b A Club wishing to move an amendment to a notified amendment or alteration shall notify the Secretary of the Association and each Club in membership 7 days prior to the date of the Annual General Meeting at which the motion is to be considered.

8c No rule shall be altered, rescinded, or added to without the consent of the majority of delegates present at the time of voting at an Annual General Meeting. (Note: Anyone having to leave the meeting prior to completion of the agenda shall be able to give their vote to the Secretary or nominate another member of their Club to vote).

9   Any new Club or Team wishing to join the Association should apply in writing to the Secretary not later than 30th November. The Association reserves the right to refuse any application, which, in their opinion, is situated beyond Burton and District.

10  The Secretary shall convene an Extra-Ordinary General Meeting at any time on receiving a requisition to that effect signed by the Secretaries of not less than three additional Clubs in membership and the meeting shall then take place within 21 days of the receipt of the requisition by the Secretary. The Secretary shall give at least 14 days notice of any Extraordinary Meeting specifying the business to be presented.

11  Association fees, team subscriptions and league prize monies to be decided annually at the Annual General Meeting in February.

12  Any Club wishing to withdraw its membership from the Association must give such notice to the Association Secretary not later than 30th November.

13  That upon any Club ceasing to become members of the Association, they shall, from the date of their ceased membership, forfeit all claims upon any assets that the Association may then, or at any time, possess.

14  If there is no member from a club at the AGM or March Management meeting then a £10 fine will apply, absence from any other management meetings there will be no fine

15  Each Club shall be furnished with a copy of these rules, and no Club shall be absolved through a plea of ignorance of these rules.

16  All League Fees and Charity Cup Fees must be paid by the time of the March Management Meeting.
