League doubles on 3rd September will be held at BirchCoppice - 2.30pm start - players to arrive by 2.15pm to avoid disqualification.  There will be a BBQ.........

Dates reminder:  The cup dates can be found by clicking on the link on the left hand side of the website 'Cup Dates 2023' but just in case you can't find them, the Singles will take place on 21st June with 22nd June to be used as the second night if all games aren't played.  Doubles will take place on 19th July with 20th July to be used as the second night if all games aren't played.

 

Please remember to let us know who qualifies on each green so that the greens for the finals can be established and shared with you.

11th April is World Parkinson's Day - Tamworth Castle bowls section are planning a fund raising day on Saturday 15th April starting at midday weather permitting.  There will be a BBQ, Bowls, Target Bowls and raffle.  Everyone welcome.

Dordon are now returning to the league for the 2023 season but will NOT be playing in the R Evans Cup.  The fixtures should now reflect this, sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused.

Select the following:    on the left hand side of the menu and then select the relevant competition.  The first round of the R Evans Cup (19th April) are also on the web.

 

Clarification of a cup day/date:  The cup fixture sheet is showing the 18th July (Thursday) as the League Cup Semi Finals - the DATE IS CORRECT, DAY SHOULD BE TUESDAY.  Sorry for the mistake!

 

DORDON - Will NOT be providing food for the 2023 season.

 

Please let us have your team player names by 22nd March 2023.

League starts with the PreLims for the R Evans cup on 29th March 2023 - draw to be made at the next meeting.

League Singles will be:  21st and 22nd June with the final on Friday 7th July.  League Doubles:  19th and 20th July with the final on Sunday 3rd September.

Thank you to everyone who attended the AGM last night.

 

Here are the rule changes that were voted in:

  1. Each team can register a maximum of 12 players.
  2. Continuous play to be played at all matches.
  3. Playing an illegal player in any games, including cup games, will incur a £10 fine per player.
  4. All complaints/issues/disputes will only be dealt with at league meetings.  Any complaints/issues/disputes to be put in writing (letter or email) to the committee at least 7 days prior to the league meeting (Gross misconduct will be dealt with immediately).
  5. Any bowler who qualifies for the quarter, semi or final rounds of the league singles or doubles competitions, who turn up to play but then leave prior to the end of the last game played (unless in emergency circumstances), the green captain to provide the names of those bowlers to the committee and those bowlers will not be eligible to enter the following season.
  6. Any team requesting that a player plays on the 1st half of the game and that player is still there at the end of the match, that team will be deducted one point, this will be the responsibility of th eopposing captain to inform the committee.
  7. Once a meeting is closed, no issues to be brought to the officers at the end of the meeting, these issues will have to wait until the next league meeting as AOB is included in all meetings and the meeting will have been closed.
  8. Score cards must be checked and marked on the card every 4 ends with dead ends identified.

The rules have now been updated to reflect these and the teams for the 2023 season.

Proposals for changes for the 2023 season put forward at the PreAGM are as follows:

1     That each team should only be allowed to register a maximum of 12 players (Graham Perry Glascote)

2     Continuous play to be played at all matches (Graham Perry Glascote)

3     That the 6 foot rule should be abandoned (Keith Robinson Tamworth Eagles)

4     Away teams to be given 15 minutes roll up but finish 10 minutes prior to the start time of the game (Andy Clancy Wilnecote)

5     All greens should be given a fair share of holding cup games (Dave Orton Dordon)

6     No neutral games for cup games, that if drawn at your home green, should be able to be played on that green (Terry Guild Grendon)

7     That the fixtures should reflect that the last game of the season to be played as a home game fixture if the green has floodlights (Norman Kester Atherstone Grove)

8     All cup games will be played on a Wednesday apart from the league division cup finals which would be played over 2 nights (Officers)
